Traveling have always thrilled us and gave us many breathtaking adventures for a life time. Ever thought of creating 3D models of spectacular monuments or wanted to design your very own modes of travelling (like supercool modified jetpacks) ? So here is FMC with a mindblowing and enlightening event. Get introduced to the creative world of MAYA.

Problem Statement

1. This is an on-site event. Participation will be individual.
2. You need to design a 3D model on the theme of Travel and Culture.
3. MAYA is to be used to design the models( Workshop on how to create a simple 3D model will be organized prior to the event teaching basics of MAYA. So don't worry if you new to MAYA.)
4. First stage will be of 1 hour. The best projects will be shortlisted for 2nd round.
5. Seperate laptops will be provided to the individuals during the event at the venue.
6. Only the tools taught in the workshop can be used to design.
7. The workshop will be of 30 minutes.
8. In case of any dispute, the decision of the coordinators will be final.
9. Any case of plagiarism or using pre-existing projects or templates will result in immediate disqualification.
10. Failure to adhere to the above rules results in immediate disqualification.

Sometimes just few words or shapes in proper motion graphics are enough to give a nostalgic feeling of a journey. Pick shapes, letters or words and move them in a way to produce awesome motion graphics.

Problem Statement

1. This is an online event.
2. You have to prepare an animation of any word or letter (for example ‘A’). It can be a simple text animation or even an advanced motion graphics art.
3. A shared google drive link will be provided and you have to submit your video (logo) and after effects project file under the folder “fmcweekend_typematic_your name”.
4. Extra Adobe After effects plugins can be used.
5. The video should be of duration less than 30 seconds.
6. Background music depends on participant’s choice.
7. In case of any dispute, the decision of the coordinators will be final.
8. Any case of plagiarism or using pre-existing projects or templates will result in immediate disqualification.

Stuff your eyes with wonders, live as you would drop dead in seconds and capture the fleeting reality, constantly walking through the world, assimilating the visual references. FMC Weekend 2017 brings out to you ESCAPADE- THE TRAVEL VIDEO CONTEST which allows you to showcase your cinematographic skills by capturing the amazing adventure you had, anytime, anywhere. May it be your smartphone and your obscure town, or a splashy place with your DSLR’s and GoPro, gear up yourself, blend some creativity and form your own “ESCAPADE”.

Rules-

1. This is an online Event.
2. Participant should send their entries to – cineclub.fmc@gmail.com with name, theme of video, equipments and software used.
3. Deadline for submission of entries is 1st November 2017 midnight.
4. The video length should be between 2 to 6 minutes and can include any town, city, state or country.
5. The video may contain any sort of video globetrotting depending upon the creativity of the participant, can have shots of “not so famous” places, but should NOT be a complete Travelogue or a Cultural Profile. (Basically, not an illustrated lecture about places being visited). It can include any sort of Time Remapping, Time Lapses or City-Lapses and any type of Video Editing Software can be used.
6. The Travel Video will be judged on the following criterion: EDITING SKILLS-40%, STORY ORIGINALITY-40%, PRODUCTION QUALITY-20%
7. Participants can send only one entry. Multiple entries will lead to immediate disqualification.
8. Plagiarism will lead to immediate disqualification.
9. The decision of the judges is final and unchallengeable.

Some changes are awesome to see especially when captured and edited with creativity. So, pick up your mobile phones and cameras, see the change through the lens. Don’t forget to use your creativity.
Time-lapse is a creative technique of capturing photos of the object in focus in a specific frequency of time and playing them continuously in a sequence like a video.

Rules:

1. This is an online event. The participants have to compose a video consisting only time-lapses and hyper-lapses of minimum 30 seconds duration.
2. There are no restrictions on subject to be taken in focus.
3. Any software can be used to edit the pictures and compile the time-lapse. (Mention their name with the entries.)
4. The time-lapse should be in mp4 or gif format.
5. Only one entry per candidate is allowed. Multiple entries will lead to immediate disqualification.
6. Multiple time-lapses and hyper-lapses can be used in video.

9. Judgments will be based on 50% creativity, 30% framing and 20% content.

48Hours Short Film Making is a sleep deprived filmmaking marathon in FMC weekend in which you and your team have unforgettable time writing, directing, shooting and editing a complete short film in just 48 hours.

Rules:

The 48 hour film-making competition is a theme based. The theme and topic will be announced to every team on registration desk on 3rd November at 12 pm onwards. Final submission to be done on 5th November at 12 pm.
1. Maximum number of entries per team: 1
2. Time Limit: 3 - 10 min.
3. Submission: Submission will be taken offline. You have to complete everything - scripting, shooting and editing in 48 hours only.
4. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
5. Judging criteria:

Editing – 25%
Overall Impact and originality– 25%

7. The content of the movie should be appropriate for public screening and thus should have no kind of vulgarity or obscenity.

The event is designed to test the visualizing power and idea representing skills of the participants. The participants are required to visually depict the provided citation using geometrical shapes only. The Citation/Topic will be given on the spot by the organizers.The citation must be depicted in the most creative, visually impactful and original way. The event is mono-phase and comprises of a single time bounded round.

Ever had an idea of ruling the air waves with your voice? Are you a person with clear diction and do you think your spontaneous nature can entertain a larger crowd? Presenting to you the RJ Hunt – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to entertain the audience of India’s oldest cultural city by going live on Radio Mirchi 98.3FM.

Rules:

1. This is an on-the-spot event. Participation will be individual. Your physical presence is compulsory.
2. There are two barriers that you will have to cross to reach the limelight as a Radio Jockey.
3. Barrier #1: You will be provided with a questionnaire that will contain questions based on the working of a FM station and some situational questions to check your spontaneity on various situations.
4. Barrier #2: The shortlisted candidates would be presented to the judge who will be an experienced jockey from Radio Mirchi. Your answers in the previous round will be cross-questioned and you will be asked to entertain over a given topic. Your sense of humour, fluency, and communication skills will be judged.
5. The winners go live on Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM as RJs.

Presenting the event “Travel Diaries”:

Rules:

1. It is an online event. Participants need to send in their entries by 3rd November 2017.
2. To submit your entries log in to the Penbound app or it's official website.
3. There will be two rounds. First round will be judged on the basis of content, linguistic ability, proper organization of ideas and overall impact.
4. The second round requires you to send in a few pictures along with descriptions of some unique and awe inspiring views you captured during the trip.
5. The length of the submissions in both cases must be around 800 words.
6. Winners will be announced online on the Council's page.
7. Pictures must be original. Plagiarism will be penalized.

Send us your photos featuring a travel destination, Instead of just snapping a quick face selfie, take a moment to think about what you're passionate about, and how you would be able to convey that in a photo. Theme - “Cultures, Customs, Musings and Destinations”

India is a beautiful country. With, so many diverse travel destinations, cultures and food, surely it is a photographer's treat. In this competition, we are looking for your best travel and street photographs Photography gives us the best avenue to show the world as it appears from our perspective. Pull your cameras out and submit to us your best still life or travel pictures and tell us some Indian tales from your perspective. Rules 1. This is an online event. Participation will be individual.
2. The entries are to be accompanied with a caption not longer than 20 words.
3. The copyright in all images submitted to the competition will remain with the owner who will be credited. Organizers reserve the right to use their images in relation to the Competition and the Exhibition, if required.
4. There must not be any watermarks, copyright marks or any text/graphic on the picture.
5. Please limit your adjustments to minor changes of cropping; hue/saturation; brightness/contrast; and levels. Avoid significant over or under colour saturation.
6. The participant should be ready with the original image when asked by the organizers.
7. The minimum resolution of the camera should be 3.2 MP. However, images should not exceed 8 MB in size.
8. Stitched panoramas are allowed.
9. Plagiarism is strictly not allowed and such photographs shall be immediately disqualified from the competition.
10. Images without EXIF data will not be accepted. So, make sure your image contains EXIF data.
11. The photos must be uploaded to the following contest which is hosted by the Photofie Team.(Link would be declared soon)
12. Two out of three winners will be decided by the judges, while the third will be based on the number of likes of the Photofie submission.

Theme - “A Century of Memories”

With the IIT(BHU) campus more than 100 years old, every corner has its own tale to tell. Hence, the Film and Media Council, takes the initiative to celebrate these anecdotes in an unconventional manner.   Snapchase, a unique photographic treasure hunt, takes you through an adrenaline rush in a chase around the campus. Every clue, a riddle to solve, pointing to a specific location, click that location's pic and submit the exact composition in time.

Rules

1. This is an on-site event. Physical presence of the participants is compulsory.
2. A team consisting of at most three members are allowed.
3. Contestants will have to use their own equipment (preferably mobile phones/compact cameras/DSLRs).
4. No motor vehicles are allowed during the event.
5. No photo morphing or alterations in photograph is permitted.
6. Image will be judged based on the basis of originality, technical excellence, composition and overall impact.
7. Though time is of the essence, the ultimate result is your photograph. An excellent composition always trumps an early submission.
8. The decision of the judges are final and unchallengeable. Failure to adhere to the above rules results in immediate disqualification.
